Maintenance and Hints
There are simple steps professionals can take to ensure their sprayers perform at their best...
Storage
Proper storage of your airless paint sprayer is crucial to its overall life and can keep maintenance costs down. There are several pump preservers/protector products available: Graco Pump Armor and Titan Liquid Shield.
After a long period of storage test your sprayer with water or mineral spirits before using. This will avoid messy break downs on the jobsite.
TSL (Throat Seal Liquid)
If you have a piston pump paint sprayer one of the easiest things you can do is use TSL every time you use your sprayer. This keeps your packings wet, reduces friction and dissolves material on the displacement rod. Keeping the rod clean and lubricated reduces abrasion and wear.
Cleaning
We strongly recommend cleaning sprayer after every use.
Filters
Each day you spray: Inspect, clean and Replace as needed: manifold, filter, gun filter and inlet strainer
Recommended by Manufacture
- Use 50’ of hose.
- Plugs with worn wires and broken ground pins are dangerous. They can cause fires or electrical shorts that damage sprayer control boards and motors. Replace damaged parts immediately with factory approved replacement parts.
Right machine for the job
Almost every paint product on the market today, comes with a suggested spec for application. It usually states the size of sprayer, hose size & tip size. This is valuable information when you're planning and quoting on a project.
When you own a small sprayer and attempt to spray a thick product, it usually wears out the pump prematurely. Thinning the product in order for it to flow also compromises the durability of the paint and can cause product failures.
Having the right equipment is essential for productivity and profitability.
